The mission of the Steering Committee rests in developing opportunities for today’s youth to further understand natural resource management and complex environmental issues through working with educators, resource management professionals, youth leaders, citizen conservationists, and others in cooperative projects.
The main functions of the Steering Committee are to:
· Assist in the development of a state strategic plan and annual work plan
· Provide support in achieving the mission and goals of the state program
· Help to raise funds for the state program
· Generate new ideas for problem solving
· Develop special state-specific projects
· Allow for broader constituency within the state program
Each member serves a three year term, and any member may be reappointed in succession. The committee meets two to three times annually or more frequently at its discretion.
